What has happened?
Super League Triathlon has acquired the Malibu Triathlon, meaning it will now be responsible for the event.
What is Super League Triathlon?
Super League Triathlon (SLT) is the world’s premier swim-bike-run Series, pitching the very best athletes against each other in quick and exciting race formats in fantastic destinations across the globe.
The Championship Series takes place from August-November with the best triathletes on the planet battling over game-changing formats which are redefining the sport for a modern audience.
Super League is also responsible for the SLT Arena Games, a dynamic new format which blends in real life and virtual racing to deliver an immersive viewing experience via a unique partnership with Zwift.
What does this mean for Malibu Triathlon?
Malibu Triathlon will continue to run under its own brand. Super League acquired Malibu Triathlon because of its rich history and heritage and does not wish to undermine that.
Will there be age group racing at Malibu Triathlon in 2021?
Yes. We are finalizing plans for 2021 and Malibu’s amazing short course racing heritage will continue for the amazing age groupers, entertainment industry, corporations and celebrities who love the event so much.
All participants who have rolled over their entries from the cancelled 2020 event will still be able to race.
Will Super League Triathlon be holding a professional event in Malibu in 2021? When will we find out?
We will begin to announce plans for 2021 shortly into the new year.
Will Malibu Triathlon still support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)?
Yes. Super League is honored to continue the fundraising initiatives which have raised more than $15m for CHLA so far.
When will registration open?
The 2021 Malibu Triathlon will take place on September 25 & 26. Stay tuned for an update on when registration will open.
