Awards

Super League Malibu 2021
Malibu, USA – SEPTEMBER 25th 2021 . SuperLeague , Age Group race at Zuma Beach California, USA 25/9/2021 (Darren Wheeler – That Cameraman/SuperLeague)

Awards will be given to the top 3 participants in each division.

Relay awards will be awarded to the top 3 teams, including all relay members, in the male, female, and mixed relay divisions.

Every athlete will receive a finisher’s medal at the finish line.

What is the min. age requirement?

The minimum age requirement to participate in the races is 14 years old.

Is the course USAT certified?

Yes

Is this event compatible for handcycle or wheelchair participants?

Yes

What do I receive with my registration?

Finisher Medal, T-Shirt, Swim Cap, Timing Chip, Bike number, Bib number, Malibu Tribe subscription, and wristband.

What is the expected water temperature?

The water temperature is usually 62-66 degrees. 

What emergency water support will be provided?

LA County Lifeguards will be present at all times during races.

Are there any suggested spectator locations?

Spectators are encouraged to watch head to the main event site at Zuma Beach to watch the weekend of events. The best locations are lots 7 and 8, where the event takes place. Due to limited parking, spectators should part at Point Dume parking lot or on Pacific Coast Highway. Please obey all posted signs.

Will there be an awards ceremony?

Olympic Distance: 11:00am on Saturday, Sept. 30

Classic Distance: 10:00am on Sunday, Oct. 1

If the event is sold out, can I be put on a wait list?

Yes, please email info@malibutri.com to be put on a waitlist. Slots will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

I can bike and run, but I’m nervous about the ocean swimming.

I'm interested in buying a new bike – any suggestions? Can I rent a bike?

Are there wetsuit restrictions?

No. Wetsuits are not required, but most people do choose to race in them. The water temperature is usually 62-66 degrees.

Before the Race

Where can I get body-marked prior to the race?

Body Marking will take place at the Transition Area beginning at 5:00 am.

When and where can I pick-up my packet?

At the registration tent on Friday (Olympic or Classic) or Saturday (Classic). Race morning pickup is available for an additional fee at malibutri.shop.

Can someone else pick up my race packet?

No, you have to collect it in person.

What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?

ID and USAT membership (if you have one).

Do I need my USAT card when picking up my packet?

Yes, if you are an annual member we need to see your membership when you pick up your race packet at registration.

Race Day

Where can I park on race day?

Participants can park at Zuma Beach, Malibu, CA.
Spectators should park at Malibu High School - 30215 Morning View Dr., or at Point Dume.

How early should I arrive on race day?

To park at Zuma Beach, you should arrive before 5am.

How do I get to the start line?

The start line is a short walk from the Expo/Transition area.

Can I get dropped off at the start line?

No.

How do I know which swim cap color I’m supposed to have?

Swim cap color will be displayed on the wave start sheet. The waves will also be available on our website closer to race weekend.

What are the Classic Distance Course cut off times?

Swim Course Length: 0.5 miles. Cut-off Time: The swim course closes at 9:15am (1 hour after the last swim wave starts).
Bike Course Length: 17 miles. Cut-off Time: The bike course closes at 11:05am (1 hour 50 mins after swim course closes).
Run Course Length: 4 miles. Cut-off Time: All runners must be off the race course at 12:30 pm. (1 hours 25 mins after bike course closure).

What are the Olympic Distance Course cut off times?

Swim Course Length: 1.5 kilometers. Cut-off Time: The swim course closes at 9:10 am (1 hours, 10 mins after last wave start).
Bike Course Length: 40 kilometers. Cut-off Time: The bike course closes at 11:15 am (2 hours 10 mins after swim course closure).
Run Course Length: 10 kilometers. Cut-off Time: The run course closes at 12:30 pm (1 hours 25 mins after bike course closure).

What is provided at the aid stations on the course?

Where does the race start and finish?

Zuma Beach, Malibu, CA

What is the wave start schedule for each race?

Every 5 minutes (wave start schedules will be posted on our website as we get closer to event weekend).

How do you determine what wave each person is in?

Waves are allocated by Age Groups, in 5 year increments.

Where are the transitions and transition zones?

Zuma Beach, Malibu, CA

What time does transition area close before the Olympic race?

A detailed event day schedule will be posted on our website as we get closer to race weekend.

What time does transition area close before the Classic race?

A detailed event day schedule will be posted on our website as we get closer to race weekend.

When does transition open to remove my equipment?

A detailed event day schedule will be posted as we get closer to race weekend.

After the Race

How do I get from the finish line back to my car?

You will have to walk back from the finish line.

What if my results are missing or inaccurate?

Please contact Sportstats via their app.

Where do I get my race photos?

FinisherPix will be providing race photo options for athletes. Please reach out to them at support@finisherpix.com if you have any questions.
